I’m leaving shortly for a cross-country road trip. A friend is moving to the mountains of Utah. That alone is cool but when you think he’s satisfying a desire he’s had for years, that’s even better.
Life Fully Alive
Do you know the feeling? When something you’ve wanted for so long finally happens? It’s motivating. It’s exciting. Your senses are heightened. You feel truly alive. That’s what life should be like all the time! A life of fullness. That’s what Proverbs refers to as the “tree of life” because the feeling fuels your life in so many ways.
Proverbs 13:12 (NLT): Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.
Of course, there’s also the uncertainty that goes along with pursuing a dream.
My Comfort Zone
Yesterday I took a step toward realizing my dream of owning a hobby farm. I put my house up for sale. It’s been an agonizing decision because there’s no distinct right or wrong answer. I could stay in my current house forever. It’s a nice house. I couldn’t ask for better neighbors. In short, I’m in my comfort zone. But then I’ll never live my dream. I’ll be living life short of its potential.
I’ve learned (or am learning every day) that God often asks us to step out of our comfort zones, trusting him completely as we do. He grows our faith, builds our confidence and protects us. It’s those times in my life when I’ve taken the biggest risks that I have truly experienced life and grown emotionally, intellectually and spiritually.
Facing my Fears
So, here I go. I’m facing my fears and holding on to God…and leaning on a few close friends. (And driving my realtor crazy.) Through this process God will give me plenty of opportunities to trust him and stretch my faith. In the end, to God be the glory.
