Fresh from the Farm-Window Coverings

I’ve been at the Funny Farm for 9 months and I still don’t have curtains on most windows. Ah, but I do have “window coverings.” You see, where I’m at, curtains are optional. There are no neighbors nearby to see into the house. Window coverings are necessary for keeping the blaring afternoon sun out of the house on 95 degree days though. So, until the checkbook will allow it, I’m getting by with whatever I can (as you can see). It’s not exactly the interior design of high society but it gets me by. The exception is in the guest room, and my bedroom where I have put up curtains in one room and just today put up a valance in the sitting area. Progress, slow and steady.

Several windows still look like this one

Well, at least the tablecloth on my patio door matches the decor...

Master bath with a lovely pink tablecloth for a window covering

The holey butterfly "curtain"

Bedroom windows have curtains, thanks to mom

My recently installed valance or maybe "cafe" curtain

The guest room has curtains because, well, guests are special

  1. It looks very nice. As long as it works, sometimes that’s all that matters, even if it’s not the “official” window covering. By the way, I’m the new person again. I just discovered your site a few days ago and it’s good, so that’s why I’m posting again. I’ve only seen about one other person who has ever made a comment. I hope I’m not being too presumptuous by doing so myself.

  2. Not at all. Thanks for checking in. This post is hopefully one “to be continued” since I hope to have official curtains some day.
